This gps track is dead on route from Fort Lewis College playfields down thru a coupla best trails in Horse Gulch up over Telegraph Ridge, down to South Rim, ending at Big Canyon TH opposite Wallyworld on SE end of town. Specifically: FLC rim trail to Powerline down to Horse Gulch main intersection. Up Cuchillo South to Mike's Trail back down the Gulch. Pick up Telegraph at the end of Mike's, up to Tel Ridge. Take a break to regain some energy, soak up the view. Up to Sidewinder, down to Cowboy, onto Mesa 2-track. Leaving the 2-track, pick up South Rim trail right at the gravel pit, swing around clockwise on SR trail to Big Canyon on down to the TH. What a trip! Cuchillo and Mike's both offer fun runs back down the Gulch. Cuchillo has a bunch of fun whoopty-do's and improved jumps for intermediate to advanced riders. Mike's offers some twisty downhills. Both access Telegraph up to Tel Ridge. This climb and vantage point are not to be missed, the views are simply stellar. Telegraph Ridge proves the jump point for several downhills to Sale Barn, Big Canyon, Carbon Junction TH's. Take your pick- they're all fun! TO TRAILHEAD: This track starts on the play fields at FLC. You may access Horse Gulch via 3rd St: head east until it deadends at TH. At trail's end at Big Canyon TH, you can call yer ride or loop back up to Horse Gulch or even FLC via 8th Ave. Recommend shuttle or pickup if you start from FLC.
