To be honest, with my riding style ( or lack of it ) I am not sure I would notice !

It's a nice bit of kit I'd ride it but looking at Nathan's suggestions I've seen a few Scott voltage online for £1500 brand new!
There had better be some downhill after this climb...

Here is an interesting thread you may have already read on M9's vs 951's

forums.mtbr.com/intense/intense-m9-951-t...g-decide-655178.html

Although it's Intense's Jnr DH bike it's still 200-215mm rear travel so definitely the way forward. The M9 has too many adjustments to fiddle with.

A Scott voltage is a nice bike, but very low rent in comparison.

- The secret to mountain biking is pretty simple. The slower you go the more likely it is you’ll crash.
- No one gets hurt in the air
- There is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing.

I think you will all find works red is the way to go ;)

Anyway the 951 is a great bike, but there are a few things to watch out for.

I was talking to the guys down in bad ass bikes a while ago and they were saying don't get a first gen 951 (the ones with the g2 or g3 drop outs). These frames were known to have some manufacturing issues particularly with the rear end, and they had seen and heard of some failures. The newer 'cheaper' frames are the ones to go for. They don't have the adjustable wheel base, but they are supposed to have stiffer rear triangles and the manuafacturing faults have been sorted.

I think this is just the sort of bikes we should be going for. It is light (for dh bike), simple to maintain and does not have too much that can go wrong. It has all the modern features like a modern geo. , chain guard tabs, 1.5 inch head tube and good stand over height.

On top of this you are getting a hand built frame that is a little different and not so mass produced. If I could afford one I would get it without hesitation, maybe when I get rid of the RM I might look into it, but that will be a good year ot 2 away. In the mean time if you see a good one for a good price get it.

Thats my 2pence worth
How hard can it be?

Cheers Glyn’er

That is why I thought the 951 was better suited for me. I am not in to the big jumping or go that fast on the Dh trails. So something that would work in the Alpes and is not a major as am M9. Don’t get me wrong the M9 is a lovely bike, but it is just too much for me. So it is not between the 951 and the M9 but more the 951 and a session or demo, or a Glory. But I have seen the 951 at my budget over the last month. So the 951 is an option, but not going to get anything until next year so may be some bargain’s will come long after Christmas when people need the money and the DH bike has to go.

As for the Scott Voltage, then NO. May be a newer Gambler but not a Voltage. As my ridding style is more about enjoying the trails and having some fun rather than major jumps or DH racing then I think a lighter smaller/newer style bike would suit me better.

Though I read some of the forum posts that were linked in on the previous posts and people love the M9 as it can be setup just how you like to ride. But they are over £2000 for a second hand one and that is over my budget for a bike that is going to be used a few times a year at most.

Cheers
