This is for all the guy (and girls) out there who own a Scott Genius or Genius LT.

I have had mine for lass that 8 months and the shock had an issue where the sharft was not fully going back in to the shock housing ofter extending. This made the bottom bracket then lower to the ground so also needing to raise the seat post more (this is how I noticed it). Rang Evans as these were the poepl that serviced my Equalier I shox, in farness to them there were happy to send the shock off even though they do NOT service the Qualizer II shocks themself now. Just had an update from them to say that Pace who service the shock has got back to them and said this is a service issue as the shock did not have enough oil in it. Now you cant put oil in yourslef and as the shock is only 8 months old then I would have t hough this was a warrenty issue.....

But it seems not, they seem to be saying that as you have used the shock then you could have used it to much and the oil come out ! They are saying over 100hr use is the limit before you have it serviced. But as this is still with in its 1 year warrenty then i would have expected it to last at least until this was over.

Any how, Evans are now sending it to Madison to see whay they think.

Will keep you scott users up to date.as you can tell I am not a happy bunny. I have been a scott fan for a long time and at present have a Genius, Ransom and High Octane. But this might change my mind on having a scott bike.

cheers

No nothing, all quite. Evans did say they were going to send it to Madisons who I think import Scotts to getthere view. I expect to hear back later this week. But dont realy have a lot of choice on what to do, I mean it is not as if i can ride the bike with out it ! So if they say it is a service issue then i will just HAVE TO get it serviced. But it has not given me a very good view of Scott and then so called warrenty. But Scott might not even know about this as the shock went to Pace as they are now part of DTSwiss and then service the shocks in the UK. They were the ones that said it was a service issue and the shock had lack of oil, even though there is no oil indicator or any ability to top up change the oil ! Plus after only 8 month riding you would expect that it would not need to be topped up

So will have to see what they say when they come back, also having at present 3 scott bikes and 2 others inthe past then I feel that Scott should give me some credit for sticking with the brand... But of course who am I kidding, they dont care once you have brought the bike and left the shop !!!

UPDATE

It has now been 5 weeks and and thanks to Robin from Evans for his help (and this does not seem to be an Evans issue) but I have been told that Madison will look at the Shock on Monday. So I am not sure what happens on a normal service, but this seems to be tacking the slow boat to each company. So I understand that Evans in Bristol sent it to PACE as the guy thought that was where it was going to be serviced (and that was right until a few months ago). So that was the first week, so then it was sent to Madison for them to sort. So that was 4 weeks ago ! Not sure where it has been between but where ever it has been it have not be sent 1st class.

As I have said Robin from the service center at Evans is now sending me email updates with it progress as I think they must be even a little embarrassed with how long it is taking. But on a positive note her feels the problem with the shock should (should) be fixed under warranty.

I was hoping to have the bike back and working before the 20th June as I am off on holiday for 2 weeks and the straight back and the next day off to Les Arcs for some downhill fun. Not that I was going to do that on my Genius but wanted it for the H.E.I.D.I trails we plan to do.

So only another 3 weeks.....and the clock is ticking

Hi Lee

Was there a happy ending to your equalizer issue? I have exactly the same problem/fault my Genius, it's only 10 months old with very minimal mileage under it's belt. Pace are saying the same thing – not serviced enough??? It'd be good to have some evidence if they did finally perform the fix under warranty.

Cheers

HI,

To be honest Evans in Bristol were very good about this, I did not buy the bike from them so they had no need to fix it. But they pushed Pace and it was fixed under warranty. But they did try the same with me, saying it had not been serviced enough......but how much is enough ? it seems if you ride you Genius more than once a week then it needs to be serviced every 6 months. But as there is no warranty after a year anyway then it is up to you.

It did make me think though, I love my Scott but did not like it that this COULD be a major issue. Saying that it has been fine ever since so makes you wonder if it was a fault and was fixed during the service.

cheers
