Again I am open on this subject.

But I just don’t understand how pass wording this site will help security (though I am happy to try), we mainly talk bollocks about biking and no details are given to where we live or even what bikes we own. So how can that be worse than driving home from AS or LW with the bike on your car roof in full show. So then the little shits know what bike you have and where you live as they can follow you home or even see you come in to your road and stop outside you house (if local kids).

I am sure somebody somewhere has some stats on this but I expect it is a very very small amount of bike go missing because the owner is on a forum. I will buy somebody tea on every ride for the next year who can tell me my "address" or "post code" or " home or mobile number" (or even email address to come to that) and the location on our NBMBC site where they found it.

Who ever stole grants bike did not get the info form the forum on this site, they either followed him home or noticed him at home getting his bike off the car and putting in his garage.

cheers
lee

I am inclined to agree with Grant. I dont think the measures suggested are intended to stop the threat of theft bit it will aid it and if that is the case then surely these methods should be deployed?

I am in favor of only members being able to see forum chat. Any old accounts not been used regularly deleted and also any member's not been on any rides should be deleted within 2 weeks of registering.

Ultimalty the fact is we do not have a large amount of newbies and there is a core group that use the forum regularly so its not as if we are going to piss people off. If they are serious about joining the club they will sympathize with why we are doing it. I also think we should put a note on the web site that we are aware of low lifes looking at our site and have measures in place, dont hide confront!!

These measures can only help security issues.

If you like I can personally question new member's but we may not see many back again!!! :woohoo:

Did you check the GPS routes to make sure they don't start at peoples front doors!!

Grant glad everything was covered with insurance, be good to you back soon.

I was a little concerned so have look at out site and there is no information that can point to where people live/phone number or even email address's. This is the same if you are Registered and Logged in or not. I cant find an personal data anywhere so you details should be safe (please tell me if you know otherwise). I have found posts that give meeting places before a ride, but this is the same as meeting in North Road for 9am.

So still open to people views.

thanks
