I've been running tubeless on the trail bike for 9 months now and it's great. And if you do have a problem - as has happened on one occasion (cut to the tirewall) - you can just stick a tube in and carry on!! The only downside to running tubeless is that once or twice a year you have to renew the sealent.

That said, I'm not planning to run tubeless for the DH build...

The 823 is a heavier rim and although it can run tubeless I can't remember the last time I had a flat on the DH bike.
Also if you go 823 it will have to be a custom build as the Hoops only come on 721's and you can pick them up new and cheaper.

I know all the benefits of tubeless seem to make sense and will make a faster rolling lighter rim, but I love the fact with a tube you can just chuck a new one in and carry on.

Actually thinking about it maybe all of those guys in the alps without backpacks are running tubeless?! Thats why they dont need to carry all their stuff with them?

Why not the 823 ? can run tubeless then, less flats....o no thats only happens to me ! :S
