After going to the Mega this year I have the bug for Alpine riding. I think several of us would like to go next year, so who seriously would be up for it? Not necessary do the Mega maybe not even go to Alpe D’Huez, but somewhere different, the only restriction is it must have bike lifts, don’t really want to be riding up hill.

What do you think?
How hard can it be?

In principle I’m up for it.
In practice I might be skint.

As of last month I started to put a few quid (£30) in an internet savings account. I plan to do this every month. This will hopefully take the sting out of paying for the trip.

Ye I am up for it, I am the same as you, once you have tasted the Alpine riding then anything else is so tame.

So the costs are less the more go for the accommodation, but we wold need more cars/vans. Here is a cost listing for last year.

Chunnel (per van) around £60 each way
Accommodation was £110 each (plus £125 deposit each that we go back)
food was low as we did cook in a couple of nights.

KIT
Well you can go on and on here, but you will need some elbow and knee pads...
So spares for the bike.
A full face helmet (mine cast £45 in the Chainreaction sale)

Plus spending money, and to be honest that was not to bad either.

If you had £500 then I am sure that would cover car/travel/accommodation/ + so money when you were there.

It seems to have it all. I'm no too fussed by a long drive if the biking is as good as this sounds. It gets my vote

I skiied here this year as my mate Craig was doing the whole season there.

It's easy to get to and not too far down at all.

There are two areas linked together on the same lift pass La Plagne and Les Arc (Paradiski). There is a double decker cable car linking the two areas together called the vanoise express which is one of the largest cable cars in the world.

You will need to be careful where the accomodation is booked as the villages are quite spread out.

Sounds like a good shout.

Are we gonna pick a date?

That way we can work our "other" holidays around it.

Last year I arranged the accommodation and when it came to the time of paying for it people dropped out (as you well know). So if we are going to put a date on it we also need to think about accommodation. Now this takes us on to another question, how many people want to come as this will effect price and what we book.

So yes a date is a good start but this might also depend on accommodation and that will depend on how many people want to come. So we need to almost get all three at the same time.

So lets start with June sat 25th and sun 26th 2011, we can do 2 or 3 days each side of this either before or after that..

Leave 22nd June - return 26th June 2011

So who wants to come ?

I think £500 is about the right amount. But if you serious I would start picking up bits now to spread the costs i.e. helmet (if we think a full face is required, probebly), some extra armour, bike spares etc.
